A stateful firewall is key to the high level of security offered by the Service Managed Gateway. The stateful firewall allows the configuration of standard intrusion filters through a firewall wizard. An additional 196 optional filters provide extra firewall strength.
Stateful inspection tracks each connection through the firewall. A stateful firewall allows traffic to pass based on whether it is associated with an existing authorised connection. It does not examine each packet in isolation. This results in accurate threat detection and protection. Connections are tracked using a flow table that records detailed information about each session. Inbound packets are compared to the flow table and then permitted through the firewall.
