Virtual Access Platform Deployed to 200,000 Japanese Users

Tokyo, 1st March, 2010. Alcatel-Lucent has deployed the Virtual Access platform to one of the world’s largest and best known telecommunications operators with over 200,000 live users on the service known as DDX.

It is primarily used for mission critical transaction traffic such as security, telemetry and finance using the Virtual Access AOS, Activator, and SMG products. Alcatel-Lucent, Japan was responsible for the project management and implementation of the service.

The solution converted the legacy network to IP, the customer applied extremely tight acceptance criteria with reliability being the highest priority for the customer; the Virtual Access solution proved to be a match for these requirements and has in fact proven to be an improvement on the legacy platform by meeting the tight reliability and service level requirements of the customer.

Masaki Moriwaki of Alcatel Lucent, Japan commented “The Virtual Access platform allows our customers to continue legacy services on a fully supported platform over an NGN or IP infrastructure. Our customers are large trusted telecommunications operators that cannot afford any disruption to their user’s mission-critical services such as security data, and cash transactions, The Virtual Access platform means that we can confidently meet our customer’s expectations”.
