IP-Touch: The Outsource Managed Service Delivery Model

IP-Touch, the outsource service delivery model offers service providers a ‘hands-off’ approach to delivery of managed network services. On the service provider’s behalf, Virtual Access provides:

  • the CPE
  • logistics
  • service provisioning
  • on-going configuration management, and
  • second- and third-level support.

This model is ideal for service providers who need to focus their resources on selling new services and retaining and enriching the end-customer relationship through first-line customer support.

The Virtual Access Service Managed Gateway (SMG) appliance is the CPE providing a range of services at the edge of the network commonly required in managed IPVPN environments. The SMG appliances all feature support for MPLS, L2TP and Internet access networks with or without QoS functionality. In particular, the CPE family incorporates specific functions which simplify the deployment and management of SIP or proprietary-based IP telephony services.

How it Works

IP-Touch Process Flow

  • You send a service provisioning requests to us.
  • We ship the CPE appliance to the end-customer and centrally provision the services.
  • We handle in-service configuration management, all logistics, advance unit replacement and second- and third-level support functions based upon a selection of Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • You can optionally monitor the system through the centralised monitor utility, offering VoIP call quality, performance and network utilisation reports.

IP-Touch frees you from complex involvement in service delivery and enables you to focus your resources on core business activities.

IP-Select: The Automated Self-Delivery Managed Service Model

IP-Select offers service providers a fully automated self-delivery environment for Virtual Access CPE appliances, including:

  • Managed IPVPN WAN services
  • Broadband telephony services
  • Internet Access/IPSec VPN services

The Virtual Access IP-Select centralised management environment offers a portal through which service provisioning and configuration management are scheduled. The service removes the complexity and overheads of implementing and supporting your own platform for delivery of managed services.

The model is ideal for service providers who are experienced in deployment and management of complex router configurations in IP networks and who need to save costs and improve business throughput by automating their processes.

IP-Select incorporates substantial service monitoring, VoIP call quality measurement and usage reporting functions, saving substantial costs using external monitoring applications.

The service provider handles first- and second-level support. Problem escalation is provided by Virtual Access’ third level support. A selection of SLAs incorporates advance unit replacement.

How it Works

IP-Select process flow

  • Virtual Access supplies the service provider with their stock of SMG appliances.
  • The service provider ships the CPE appliance, pre-configured with a standard factory configuration, to the end-customer.
  • Once connected to the network, the SMG appliance authenticates using a default provisioning user name and password from the factory configuration.
  • The SMG appliance connects to the centalised provisioning server and downloads the run-time configuration that is pre-defined for the specific customer site.
  • The appliance re-boots and connects to the network, identifying itself to the centralised service monitoring application.
